Safeguarding in the Metropolitan Old Catholic Church (TMOCC)
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
The Metropolitan Old Catholic Church (TMOCC) is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, caring, and welcoming environment for all people. We recognise our responsibility to protect children, young people, and adults who may be vulnerable from abuse, neglect, exploitation, or harm.
Safeguarding is at the heart of our Christian mission and ministry. We believe that every person is made in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Our Safeguarding Principles

Everyone's Responsibility
Safeguarding is the responsibility of every member of the Church. All clergy, religious, church officers, employees, volunteers, and members are expected to:

Respect professional and personal boundaries.

Model Christian conduct and integrity.

Participate in safeguarding training when required.
Responding to Concerns
If a safeguarding concern arises, TMOCC will:

Listen carefully and respectfully.

Take concerns seriously.

Record relevant information accurately.

Report concerns to the appropriate safeguarding officer and, where necessary, statutory authorities.

Maintain confidentiality while ensuring the safety of those at risk.

Provide appropriate pastoral support to those affected.
Safe Church Culture

Safeguarding Officer
The Church shall appoint a designated Safeguarding Officer responsible for overseeing safeguarding matters, maintaining policies and procedures, promoting training, and serving as a point of contact for concerns and disclosures.
Review
This safeguarding commitment and all associated policies shall be reviewed regularly to ensure compliance with current legislation, best practice, and the mission of the Metropolitan Old Catholic Church.
